BILDKRAFT We care for good films.
BILDKRAFT film distribution and DVD label was established in 2006 by Jutta Platte and Christian Modersbach. Its main focus has been on queer art house films released on BILDKRAFT’s own DVD label. Select films have been theatrically released including “Johan” by Philippe Vallois (Cannes 1974) which was censored for more than 30 years. BILDKRAFT also theatrically released Roberto Castóns film, “Ander” (Berlinale Panorama 2009). Among other directors whose films have been distributed by BILDKRAFT are Simon Chung, David Kittredge, John G. Young and Enrique Buchichio. Different perceptions of identity/identities have always been at the core of BILDKRAFT’s films. Visually, it is vital that the film’s content is translated into well composed, aesthetically appealing imagery, full of “Bildkraft”.
BILDKRAFT is the first distributor in the German market to specialize in films on the cutting edge of experimental art film and feminist pornography.
Since 2011, Jutta Platte has been the sole proprietor and CEO of BILDKRAFT. This year BILDKRAFT will also kick-off its new animal film label, “Wild Beast Films” for people who love animals and good films. “Wild Beast Films” will release their first DVD in October, “Kurze Hunde” including Bill Plympton’s “Guard Dog” (Oscar nominee 2005) and Vance Malone’s “The Poodle Trainer” (Sundance 2010).
Bildkraft will expand its theatrical branch to also include a non-queer art house section. In 2012, BILDKRAFT will release the beautiful Israeli film “Ein Sommer in Haifa” (Original Title: “The Matchmaker”) by Avi Nesher in German Cinemas.
BILDKRAFT strives to pursue a variety of avenues in film distribution in order to continually release fascinating and vibrant films of quality.
